Ropeman 4 Ascender

The Ropeman 4 is the latest, innovative evolution of the original Wild Country ascender. This compact rope clamp covers a wide range of technical applications, including emergency rescue, self-rescue, ascending, self-belay and positioning lanyard adjustment. The new, improved side plate grooved closure mechanism prevents lateral sideplate opening when ascending a rope, and ensures that no rope gets stuck between the sideplate and the cam, making it more efficient and safer than comparable devices.
Made from lightweight, strong aluminum alloy and designed to work with a wide range of rope diameters, it also works with flat and tubular webbing slings and is compatible with HMS and oval carabiners. The ample cylinder hole design allows full rotation of the device around the carabiner.
The strong stainless steel wire is covered with a durable plastic sheath for safe and easy handling. The Ropeman 4’s small, lightweight design makes it easy to carry one on your harness at all times. An essential piece of gear for all vertical adventures.

This is my first year hunting from a Saddle and my practice climbs in the back yartd were not progessing as I had expected. I don't have an aversion to heights but my confidence in my equipment was not where I expected when using the Prusik knots.
I re-watched some of the vidoes from the guys at Team-Tethrd and noticed Ernie using a Ropeman and figured I'd give it a try. The ascenders on my Lineman and Tether were exactly what I was looking for. Easy one-hand adjustment and a positive lock that solidified my confidence in the equipment and my ability as a new Saddle hunter.

The Ascender 4 works very well. The control is great and I feel very safe using it. I had seen a few reviews where people were frustrated that the caribeaner didn’t rotate around to the small end, and I was frustrated with that at first. After playing around with it I realized you need to slide it over the arm ov the caribeaner and not only does it go to the small end but it stays there instead of rotating around. Even better!!
What a game changer. It makes climbing and decending so much easier. I would recommend one of these to anyone using a linesman rope.
