By constructing the Lifeguard without the internal spring, the Safeguard is a great tool for rescue and rigging work. It will lock onto the rope with very little force giving you the confidence that once the position of the rope is set the device will not creep or slide.

Madrock One Stick

Bought for one sticking this year. Used a figure 8 last year. This is lightweight and should also replace a rope man I used last year.

Great for Rappelling

The madrock safeguard is, as the name suggests, a very safe way for saddle hunters to ascend and descend from a tree. It makes it very easy to keep your tether tight while climbing a tree by just pulling the brake line upward, instantly locking you in place. While it is as easy to rappel down with the use of the brake lever, it is a little touchy and takes a little getting used to compared to other rappelling methods. Overall, it's still a solid choice for ascending and descending a tree.

Makes saddle hunting quieter, easier

You don’t have to have it to saddle hunt, but you won’t regret having it either. Makes rope adjustments easier, and quieter. It’s also nice to have the option of repelling down when done hunting. Makes a great safety device when climbing up an down.
